Syukur - Gratitude


It's an acknowledgement of benefits one has received.

I'm thankful I wake up every day and witness the majestic sunrise.

I'm thankful for I had seen the sunrise from the top of Mount Kinabalu and Bukit Broga - the view was truly amazing!

I thankful I can still enjoy the morning dew occasionally.



I'm thankful I can still snuggle in bed during occasional shower.

I'm thankful that I'm able to work and loving what I do.





I'm thankful I can still experience the beauty of nature

I'm thankful for the love I've given and received. 

I'm thankful I still have the power of choice.



I'm thankful creativity at work is an enjoyment

I'm thankful because I'm thankful for what I already owned and would like to have.

I'm thankful I can still enjoy the pleasure of food

 I'm thankful I'm still sane, I'm thankful there friends around that care, I'm thankful I remember all the good memories, I'm thankful for my health, I'm thankful that I barely remember all the sickness and pain.

Perspective

This has always been my favourite picture. It was taken in Beijing November 2009 during a walk after touring the Forbidden City. I like the shadow of the trees on the wall and the pavement. The sun was not bright at all and it was cold too. My memory will always come back to this picture. It is serene to me yet it also signifies a long path of life.

Etlingera elatior - Torch Ginger (Bunga Kantan / Bunga Siantan)
This showy pink flower, originated from Malaysia, is a popular ingredient that enhances the aroma and taste of the dishes.  The tender young bud is normally used for cooking  such as laksa and thinly sliced if used raw such as in salad or nasi ulam. The distinct smell of these herb is truly appetizing and yummy. I like to put it in my nasi goreng.

 This lovely pink flower is also used in ornament arragangement such as ikabena. There also other colour variations of these flowering species. There is also a village in Kajang named after these plant - Kg Sg Kantan because of the plant grows endemically there.

Frangipani

My pink frangipani blooms again - yeah! Frangipani also known as plumeria, is belief to provide shelter to ghosts and demons. The scent of frangipani associated with pontianak and the plant especially white flowering ones are often planted in cemeteries. Oh o ...

The truth is frangipani flowers are most fragrant at night in order to lure spinx months (kupu-kupu malam) to pollinate them. The scent of the flower in the graveyard asctually masked any bad fowl smell.

The white sap produce by the plan if you snap the leave from it trunk or cut any part of the trunk may irritate the eye and skin.

Reflection and distortion.

Do we all see the same thing or are we assuming what others see as we see it? Reality is - the view from our side is not the same as the view from other sides.

It seems calm now! Wait somebody just jump in the water!

Let's wait for the water to calm again.

Can we see through others' eyes? Is that sadness that we see - is that joy - is it enough for us to know about the others we encounter?

Am I writing or composing words that agree with my subconscious?

It's home-prepared Japanese dinner tonight - soba, unagi, shishamo and salad with Japanese mayonnaise. That's the way I prefer my food to be - light yet nutritious. I had 2nd helping. The soup was made from boiled kombu with addition of soya sauce, bonito flake and seaweed.

Isn't it wonderful - food does give enjoyment to life and fulfil the stomach - what else can we ask for? Aren't we lucky. There are those who are suffering and sleeping with empty stomach - but life must go on!

Cats life - beautiful and gentle. Soft furry coat with gentle heart. These two cats Kitty and Kiara follow me around in the house. Undisturbed with all the things that I'm doing but want to be involved. I guess they always wonder what I'm up to now - let's check it out but let's pretend we don't care.

Looking up in a jungle always fascinate me. It makes me realized how small I am - there's a big world out there yet at the same time I feel safe like I'm protected. Rays of light through the leaves delight me!

Imagine the life of this little creature - ant. Did we ever think about how it goes about its life? Does ant just go around finding food! Oh you had step on one or more ... did you care?

It is now about my journey in life - revel in life!

I never knew I'll get this far in life and yet there plenty more years to come. My destination is not defined, I never knew where my life will lead me to. What I know now is that I decide what to think and what I should do for myself.
